well well well...looks like it'll be much easier for mom and/or pooky to do the name change thang than it was for me waaay back in the olden days - now all the forms are on the net! it was rather empowering when i did it, poring through legal books and creating the forms myself. looks as though the cost will be a little bit more though - i think it was 65 bucks to file when i did it - now the filing fee is $104.
Lexmark sucks ass...not only are their printers crap, now they're trying to use the DMCA to squash competition on printer cartridges - errr, don't they have enough of a monopoly on em anyways?...i guess it's just more proof that the Digital Millennium Copyright Act is evil - it's amazing how this thing's getting twisted and used in so many ways that it surely wasn't intended ...
mom mentioned over the weekend that she'd like to get her name legally changed, back to her maiden name - she didn't do it when she got divorced because adam was so young and he didn't like the idea (he didn't want to be the only one with Southerland as a last name in our household)...i asked him what he thought of it nowadays and he's cool with it...i suggested that he may wanna do a name change too, since he's not using his last name professionally - he's just Adam Jay...
so a guy on fark asked members for suggestions for a new name - some amusing suggestions there...there's obviously a few people that have heard eddie izzard's take on Gerry Dorsey's name change to Engelbert Humperdinck..."engelbert humperdinck...zingelbert bembeldack...wingelbert humptyback...slutbun wollah...kringelbert fristrybuns...fringybun fristolbozz"

weird - UPS uniforms are selling on ebay for megabucks...$800 for a coat, shirts for $500+ and such...
theories abound as to why this stuff is commanding big bucks - Strip-O-Grams? Dale Jarrett NASCAR fans? Al-Quaeda operatives? ya wouldn't think terrorists would be buying their stuff offa ebay, but then ya also wouldn't think people would fly jets into the world trade center buildings either....

not being able to breathe really limits the amount of time a person can stay asleep...so i've been farking...some interesting articles:
Football coaches: Just say no to Gatorade baths - don't wanna misalign that chi...
State representative wants Indiana students involved in porn movie expelled - i think woody burton fits that classic fark definition of asshat...
Vintage boobies in handy postcard form - boobies....
and my favorite articles o de' day:
Penn Gillette (of Penn & Teller) recently had his crotch grabbed without permission. Although what he endured is incredibly offensive, he wrote up a great account of the incident - looks like Penn's a weblogger too...very interesting account of his getting molested by airport security...
Postal delivery experiments - "Clerk at station commented that mail must be wrapped" is a common refrain on this one...tis amazing to see the crazy shit people do sometimes...

well crap...i think this new bonus system we're implementing at work is gonna suck major ass...it appears that the irs will withhold 27% of the amount of the bonus...major suckage...i mean, is it really all that much of a bonus if we know we're getting 150 bucks a quarter, minimum? why not just give each of us a quarter raise and then make year-end bonuses out of the money that's left over?
maybe neal's conspiracy theory is right - they're doing it this way so that they can hang onto the cash longer throughout the year....

the sales people at work all have cell phones, so when they come in to drop off their ads, we hear a multitude of cell phones...they're all different...lots of cheezy ring tones and goofy shit...
well, i've succumbed to the pressure and put a new ringtone on my cell phone...
'twas a tough choice...i had narrowed it down to:
The Flintstones Theme
The Muppet Show Theme
Girlfriend In A Coma (that great song by the Smiths - but i dunno, it just seemed a little too wrong)
It's The End Of The World As We Know It And I Feel Fine (this one from rem's just a bit TOO relevant these days, as we wait for WWIII)
Crazy (ya s'pose that spinning noise is patsy cline in her grave? wow, she's really a star now, she's got a cell phone ringtone!!)
and one more...the one i settled on...
the theme music to JEOPARDY!
now i can annoy them as much as they annoy me...err, naah, i bet i can't reach that level of annoyance...but it'll be fun to try....

february's single women's dinner's gonna be at Ruthellens - looking forward to it, haven't been there in ages...
thursday's dinner at the rathskeller was good, despite a poor turnout (probably due to the crappy weather)...t'was just three of us, but i almost like the smaller crowds so you can get to know people a little better...the food was great - i had the jaegerschnitzel...the black forest cake for dessert was good as well, tho i managed to drop a bite of it from my fork down my shirt!! ugh, always the clumsy one...

woo hoo! 2003! thank god 2002's over - i must say, it sucked. could've been worse, but coulda been a whole lot better too...
went to a party at angela's - rang in the new year with her and dale and greg and diana and a bunch of other people...it was very nice...
resolutions? maybe dropping a couple hundred pounds (yeah right). seriously now...well, i'm working on getting my finances in order. that's a very realistic goal - get rid of some of this credit card debt, get all the old medical bills paid off - woo hoo!
