tom & ray of car talk have a site at cars.com, and caroscopes, to tell you how compatible you are with your vehicle...apparently, i'm not really a toyota tercel sort of girl...

cliche kitty, the one that appears in all the photoshops on fark...

cleaning: right now, i'm cleaning out the ol' email box...when my laundry's done, i'm heading home to clean the apartment...
pretty sad when you can get more information by trolling the net than you can by asking your doctor's office a few simple questions.

think it might be time to change neurologists - i don't feel comfortable with Community Hospital and having them responsible for giving me a video EEG to see if i'm a candidate for brain surgery when they've called me twice to cancel my tests because their equipment wasn't working. who's to say that the stuff will work when they DO get me in there for 3 days...and how can i possibly trust that the results they get will be worth anything? we won't even factor in the crappy care i got at the emergency room when my gall bladder screamed to be removed...what i know for sure is that i won't ever ask to be taken to community hospital in an emergency - i'll go to st. francis instead.

dr. mohan's been the first neurologist to ever even suggest the possibility of brain surgery, so i know i'm gonna need a second opinion anyways...perhaps i'll talk to dr. english and get her opinion on a good neurologist associated with a hospital other than community.

IUPUI - i saw dr. salanova years ago...perhaps i'll return to her...*shrug*

the st. vincent website had a description of the video eeg, which was more than i could ever get out of the people at JWM Neurology...

*sigh*
cool...tom tomorrow's taken to blogging...

current workplace conversation topic: whorehouses, and whether or not you have to make an appointment...

how the hell did that one come about? well, we were talking about robin's unlisted phone number getting wrong numbers and neal chimes in with how his phone number as a kid was one digit off from a whorehouse - why the hell does a whorehouse need a phone?!? was my question...thus the question about making reservations...

yeah, pretty scary, but i seem to be one of the more normal people around here....
CURRENTLY, LORI IS:

amazing drive in to work this evening...cruising 465 as the sun was setting...the sky was all sorts of colors - face a different direction, see colors you didn't see before...it was hard to keep my eyes on the road, a huge chunk of sky was magenta and it set a tint over everything ahead of me....for a few minutes, at least...

now it's all dark - cuz i've moved into the hellhole that is my job. urgh. off to work i go!!
hrmmm, perhaps i should set up one of those amazon tip jars here in my blog to collect money for the video eeg and potential brain surgery....
the book _Nickel and Dimed_ i just finished reading brought up an interesting point - on page 207, it states, "The National Labor Relations Act of 1935 makes it illegal to punish people for revealing their wages to one another, but the practice is likely to persist until rooted out by lawsuits, company by company." it also includes a footnote referencing a 7/28/00 article from the New York Times, "The Biggest Company Secret; Workers Challenge Employer Policies on Pay Confidentiality".

i mention this because we've been told before at work that discussing what we make with our co-workers is grounds for immediate dismissal. this policy seems to be counter to the law....
i've got a bunch of stuff i've been meaning to put up on ebay - assorted bargains and shit i picked up after xmas...kroger had those tech deck mini skateboards - before xmas they were $3.99. i got them afterwards for $.10 each...i did some research on the tech deck website and found the things listed there for $6.99! so, i've got about a dozen or so, maybe i'll put 'em up in lots of 3 or 4 and see what i get....got lots of other shit i'll have to put on ebay in october/november, before xmas - bumbles, the abominable snowman from rudolph the red nosed reindeer, as a bobblehead...sold for $10 - paid $2 for 'em...i have entirely too much stuff - but it's so damned easy to see something on sale and say "hey, lemme throw that in a box and in a few years sell it for ten times what i paid"...i am such the pack-rat.

CURRENTLY, LORI IS:

surfing: the trading spaces website...what a cool show...

so i'm thinking of coming up with some sort of Lori Index - a list of what i'm currently (or very recently) doing/reading/watching/surfing/eating/buying/whatever....it can certainly tell ya what sort of mood i'm in if i've got the really depressing shit in the CD player or whatever...

so here goes for now - what i've been currently doing...categories are subject to change at any given millisecond...

CURRENTLY, LORI IS:

kazaa'ing: _This Way_ - Jewel - urgh, that "standing still" song is trapped in my head - get it out!!!

reading: just finishing up _Nickel and Dimed: On (Not) Getting By in America_ by Barbara Ehrenreich...next on the list of books i've recently gotten from the library: _That's Mr. Faggot to You : Further Trials from My Queer Life_ by Michael Thomas Ford

eating: some mahjongg leftovers - one of our usual dinners - KFC!

surfing: popshop.com - getting ideas for stuff to download from kazaa...

listening: Jewel & Melissa Etheridge doing "You Can Sleep While I Drive", freshly ripped from kazaa....

hrmm...that pretty much sums up what i'm doing at the moment...

'nother night at the computer, kazaa-ing away...found another website, popshop.com, that horribly overcharges for cd's of stuff that can easily be gotten from kazaa for free, of songs i just absolutely loved back in the day and now have completely forgotten about...so i'm infringing on a number of copyrights...but wait, i owned those songs years and years ago, so this is just making my perfectly legal backup copy, right? right? *wink wink*
